The Laboratory constructed under the Mahindodaya 1,000 school programme consists of a fully fledged mathematics laboratory, a language laboratory with 25 computers and another computer laboratory with 40 computers and a distant learning centre.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking at the opening ceremony reiterated that the government will continue its move to promote education of rural children and will not allow vicious elements to disrupt the government's drive to develop free education. He said that false rumours are being spread to tghe effect that 50,000 rupees is being charged from each student who intends to use Mahindodaya technical laboratories.
The President who inspected the new complex also did not fail to speak with the crowds present.
Ministers Bandula Gunawardea, Pavitra Wanniarachchi, Jagath Pushpakumara, Sumedha G.Jayasena, Gamini Vijith Wijayamuni de Soysa, Chief Minister of Uva Province Shasheendra Rajapaksa were among those present.(KH/SI)
