The electrification scheme was commissioned by President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the participation of the Minister of Power and Energy Pavithra Wanniarachchi. The Government has spent Rs. 304 Million on the Rathugala Electrification scheme under the “Uva Udanaya” development scheme. which will provide electricity among 1391 households. Rathugala is located approx.30km from Ampara where indigenous original inhabitants of Sri Lanka are living.
The Rathugala Electrification Scheme is one step forward in achieving the the government's target of providing electricity to all households.
the people in the area will benefit from the Rathugala electrification scheme, and it will also have an impact on people's lives socially, economically and environmentally.
Deputy Minister G.L.Premalal, Ministers Bandula Gunawardena,Jagath Pushpakumara, Sumedha G.Jayasena, Gamini Vijith Wijayamuni Soysa, Chief Minister of Uva Province Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Chieftain of Rathugala indigenous heritage and vedda community were present on the occasion.(KH/SI)
