The President was addressing a gathering at the opening of the upgraded Moneragala Wedikumbura Vidyalaya in the Uva Province as a secondary school under 1000 Mahindodaya schools development program and opening the newly constructed Mahindodaya Science Laboratory.
In line with the Government's vision to make Sri Lanka an education hub of Asia, the entire education sector has already been subjected to a radical change. Under the Mahindodaya school development program, especially rural students will be able to conquer the world with novel technology including information technology, the President further said.
The Laboratory constructed with the supervision of the Education Ministry and under Mahindodaya 1,000 school programme consists of a mathematics laboratory, a language laboratory with 25 computers and another computer laboratory with 40 computers and a distant learning centre.
