Sri Lanka to increase the guaranteed price of liquid milk to 70 rupees per liter from June in order to increase local milk production and popularize the local milk production, Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare P. Harrison said while addressing a media conference held at the Government Information Department today (20).
He pointed out that a series of programs are already being conducted for dairy farmers in all districts.
It is also proposed to increase allocations to Provincial Councils to assist small dairy farmers to promote cattle farms, and quality animal feed production at provincial level, Minister said.
He stated that the local milk production has increased to 60 percent of local consumption requirements.
