Rome,: The Vatican will donate three million euros to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the Holy See said Wednesday (07). The statement also urges public and private agents to increase the funds allocated to fight the disease that has already claimed the lives of almost eight thousand people, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The funds will be available for Catholic Church organizations in order to improve the aid they provide, as well as the pastoral assistance to patients and health staff, the text adds. The funds will be used for the procurement of essential medical supplies, transportation of patients and development of strategies aimed at stopping the spread of the disease. Radio Vatican added another sum will be aimed at helping families affected by the virus and orphan children. (KH)
