    New Cabinet will comprise 30 members - President Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena has emphasized that the Cabinet of the Government that will be elected in the forthcoming general election will comprise 30 members. The President invited the intellectual fraternity to join in crafting a National Policy which will incorporate subjects with a scientific basis for Ministries.

    A workshop to craft a splendid National Policy was held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. It was organized by the Centre for National Policy. It was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. Among those who joined in the occasion were University Lecturers, Professionals and Social Activists.

     

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that within a few days a general election will be held to elect a new Parliament. A new Cabinet will be appointed. The limiting of the Cabinet to 30 members is a significant step achieved under the 19th Amendment. As such the new Cabinet will comprise 30 members. He told the gathering that as a group of intellectuals, they are vested with a major task. As the President he said he wished to invite them to prepare the 30 Ministries on a scientific basis and gazetting it.

     

    Expressing views on the occasion, Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka underscored the need for a strategically streamlined management to carry forward the country economically. To carry forward the economy, it is indeed necessary to subject these institutions to a suitable management strategy wise. He added that a noteworthy change took place in the country on January 08th.

     

    Many people’s representatives including Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva were among those present on the occasion.
