    Committed to strengthen free education – President

    President Maithripala Sirisena stressed that he is totally committed to strengthen the right to free education of all children in the country. “While providing the proper solutions for the matters faced by university students, the Government will provide all facilities necessary for the university education”, the President further said.

    He made these observations after declaring open the newly constructed hostel and the sports complex at the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University on Tuesday (3).

     

    This hostel was set up at a cost of Rs.120 million. The hostel has been constructed with all modern facilities and the Sport Complex is a modern state-of-the-art complex.

     

    President Sirisena further said that development of competitiveness among university students is essential not only locally but also internationally.

     

    “One’s rebellious nature during the stay at the university is also very important and those experiences will help to build our future,” the President said. ‘The honesty that you have as a student is an essential value during your working life too’, he added.

     

    The Competent Authority of the Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Professor Ranjith Premalal De Silva and Vice Chancellor of Eastern University Dr K. Kobindarajah and many acdamics and students participated in the event.(priu)
