The President made these remarks at a meeting held with Nursing Service Officers at the National Youth Council Auditorium in Maharagama yesterday (10).
The meeting was organized by the Government Nursing Services Officers Association to present proposals to the new President and the government for a people-friendly health service.
The President addressing the gathering attributed the acts of corruptions mainly due to direct handling of over 21,000 tenders by the Health Ministry annually and said that the new drug policy act will provide effective solutions to overcome this issue.
The President assured that his Government will take every possible measure to create an efficient and quality free health service devoid of corruption with a contended nursing service. He called upon all officers to work towards achieving this target while fulfilling the expectations of the people.
Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Minister Karu Jayasuriya and Patali Champika Ranawaka were among those who were present on the occasion.
