Work diligently in fulfilling pledges given to the people

    January 20, 2015

President Maithripala Sirisena called on all public officials to discharge their duties with responsibility winning the hearts and minds of the people.

Addressing the newly appointed Secretaries of Ministries and State Ministries at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (19), the President said that they should work towards eradicating bribery, corruption, waste and misuse of public funds and property.

The President pointed out that the people elected him by accepting his manifesto and as such the newly appointed Secretaries are obliged to fulfill the pledges given therein.

He also said that the role of the State Media in this regard would be to highlight people's problems while curtailing giving wide publicity to politicians which will damage the image of them.
