    President meets Child Development and Women's Affairs Officers Featured

    President addressing the Child Development and Women's Affairs Officers said that according to international surveys Sri Lanka has been identified as one of the most child friendly nation's in Asia. He said that as per Mahinda Chintha Vision for the Future, women in Sri Lanka are experiencing economic, social and cultural development in the country.There is also a proper plan to prevent violence against women and also on child abuse. President Rajapaksa also pointed out that in the coming year Rs.700 million will be allocated for these programmes.

    The President made these remarks at a meeting held between the President and the officers of the Child Development and Women’s Affairs at Temple Trees on Sunday (19). More than 5000 officers including Early Childhood Development Officers, Women’s Development Officers, Counselling Officers, Child Protection and Psycho Social Officers were present.

     

    President Mahinda Rajapaksa pointed out that the present government was able to carry out all these developments faster than any Asian country due to eradication of 30 year long terrorism from the country.. He added that more benefits of the freedom and development will be reached to the General public in the future.

     

    Minister Tissa Karaliyadda and Parliamentarian Sudharshani Fernandopulle were also present.(KH)
