The minister said so responding to a query raised by UNP Hambantota District MP Sajith Premadasa.
Minister Dissanayake said that there were 11,084 internal students and 125,201 external students reading for degrees in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura currently. Action had been taken to improve the infrastructure facilities in the university and a new building complex was being constructed for the Faculty of Medical Sciences in the university. “New lecture theatres are being built for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Library has been modernized and new language laboratories are being constructed for the use of students. Sri Jayewardenepura is the fastest developing university in the country and it has the highest number of students,” the minister said. (Special Reporter)
