    Govt. will strengthen security forces despite criticisms – President Featured

    President Maithipala Sirisena said that the government always takes steps to strengthen the security forces including the tri-forces, Civil Defense Force, and the Police for the national security despite the criticisms levelled by various parties.

    He was addressing the National War Heroes’ Commemoration Ceremony 2017 this evening at the Parliamentary Grounds in Battaramulla. It was organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority.

     

    The President said that the government at present is taking every possible step to empower the security forces with the new technology and to maintain them with quality.

     

    During the post war season, after eight years the present government as well as the previous government have done many things for the welfare of the war heroes, the president said and added that a bulk of privileges and allowances has been given to them.  

     

    Pointing out several examples such as government’s drug prevention program, Aranayake, Saalawa, and Meethotamulla disaster situations, and the national dengue prevention program, he further added that our security forces are fulfilling their responsibility not only for the national security but also for public welfare.

     

    President Sirisena also paid floral tributes to the war heroes’ monument at the premises on this occasion.
