    Renovation of roads and bridges hit by floods to companies that built them

    Highways, Ports and Shipping Minister Nirmala Kotelawala told Parliament today that no public funds would be utilised to renovate roads and bridges destroyed by the recent floods as that task would be given to the companies which built them.


    The minister said so in response to a query raised by Kurunegala District UNP MP Ashok Abeysinghe.


    Minister Kotelawala said that the government had not wasted public funds in any manner and it was natural that massive floods destroying roads, highways and bridges. The government had handed over the task of reconstructing those bridges and roads destroyed in the floods to the companies which had built them.
