Providing lands for public servants to build houses in progress Featured

    June 19, 2014

Land and Land Development Deputy Minister Siripala Gamlath told Parliament today that the programme of providing plots lands to public and corporate sector employees to build houses as mentioned in the ‘Mahinda Chinthana- Vision for the Future’ would further continue.

The Deputy Minister said so in response to a question raised by UNP Hambantota District MP Sajith Premadasa.

Deputy Minister Gamlath said that plots of lands have so far been distributed among 8771 recipients. Under this programme plots of lands would be selected from places suitable to build houses and would be distributed among public sector employees. Each recipient would get a plot of land not less than ten perches in extent.

The minister pointed out that not all the public servants would request for lands and only those who had no lands would be selected to be benefited under this programme.
