State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control, Sudarshini Fernandopulle stated that the second jab of the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine will be given to the public starting from 1st of May.
The State Minister said this today (20) at the Parliament.
State Minister Fernandopulle highlighted that if the first dose was given from the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, the second dose has to be given from the same vaccine and therefore, the Government will undertake the immunization accordingly.
As per the new scientific data, it is recommended to give the second dose after 12 weeks of the first jab so thereby, the vaccination will be started from May 1.
