    April 20, 2021

The Chief Prelate of Ramanna Maha Nikaya, Most Ven. Makulewe Wimala Nayaka Thera has appreciated the decision taken by the Sri Lankan government to inform and share details with the religious leaders about the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill 2021.

The Chief Prelate of Ramanna Maha Nikaya has shared these assertions with the State Minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms, Ajith Nivard Cabraal and
the Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga when they visited Chief Prelate on April 18 to hold a discussion on the Port City Bill.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has taken the aforementioned decision of informing the religious leaders, including the Maha Sangha, about the Colombo Port City Bill as various
allegations and rumors are being spread against it.

State Minister Cabraal assured that the Bill will not provide the authority over the Port City to any other party but Sri Lanka. Minister Ranatunga added that the decision to call the
port city a separate country has been spread to mislead the public.

Minister Ranatunga further affirmed that the government will not take any decision that is unconstitutional or detrimental to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
