Heeding a directive of the police, 8437 Sri Lankans returning to the country from overseas had registered with the police. Out of them 4498 are from the Western Province, 1187 are from the Central Province and 742 are from the Wayamba Province, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said this during the media briefing held at the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 last day(19).
The DIG said that the registration process is continuing.
The DIG also warned those who hoard gloves and face masks and selling them at higher prices that raids would be conducted together with the Consumer Affairs Authority and legal action would be taken against them.
He also urged the public to refrain from harassing foreigners who have arrived in our country.
