In the backdrop where the novel coronavirus has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the government has taken several steps to control the spread of the disease. Accordingly, under the directives and guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Siva, a group of naval personnel of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear response team had been engaged in disinfecting the main railway station of Trincomalee and all the railway compartments, in an attempt to curtail the further spread of the disease as the number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased at an alarming rate.
The Navy is geared up to take every possible action to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and is on full alert at all times.
