    Army continues relief work

    Continuing with ongoing relief work, Sri Lanka Army had deployed a total of 1,600 Army personnel belonging to the SFHQ-West for rescue and relief operations in flood and landslide affected areas by yesterday (27th May), army media sources said.

    The relief operations are conducted through close coordination with sister services, Police, Disaster Management Centre (DMC), District and Divisional Secretariats.

     

    In addition, Army Health Services has also dispatched five army medical teams comprised with medical officers, nurses, paramedics and ambulances with medicine to flood affected areas for medical support.

     

    According to the report, Army troops had been able to rescue more than 2,600 people have distributed more than 3,000 cooked meal packets among the victims of Kalawana and Pitabeddara areas.
