    Progress of vegetable cultivation, Yala 2015

    The cultivation progress of Sri Lanka's up country vegetables and low country vegetables are 39% and 65% of their targets respectively.

     
    Among the up country vegetables, Capsicum and Leeks reached the highest progress when compared with the average cultivation extent of last 3 Yala seasons, the Peradeniya Agriculture Dept. announced.  Red pumpkin shows the highest cultivation extent among all the vegetables and it is 28% higher compared with average of last 3 Yala seasons. 
     
     

    The cultivated extent of Mea, Cucumber and Kakiri up to end June 2015 is already higher compared to the average cultivated extent of past 3 Yala seasons, the Dept. further added.
