    Fresh milk promoted

    May 24, 2014
A scheme is launched to promote the consumption of fresh milk in the North Western Province under the Livestock Development Ministry and Milco Company. Fifty milk sales outlets in Kurunegala will be commissioned covering 14 electorates, said North Western Province Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera.

"The opposition never talks about the development of the country," he said in response to a question raised by Opposition leader J. C. Alawathuwala at the Wayamba Provincial Council meeting recently.

The chief minister said the opposition do not talk about development, employment opportunities, food security, agriculture and roads development. "They are trying to influence the masses to topple the government. We are ready to face any challenge to protect the government," he said. Provincial Agricultural and Fisheries Minister Sanath Nishantha Perera said the central government allocated Rs. 26 million for the development of Wayamba. Under this, 90 percent of rural roads, electricity and health facilities have been completed.

Samanpriya Herath (UPFA) said many local and foreign investors are willing to invest in Wayamba. The chief minister said plans are underway to improve the tourist industry since the region was endowed with four Kingdoms.
