High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan highlighted the prospect of investment in, and trade with, Bangladesh. He particularly mentioned the potentials of import of pharmaceuticals, home appliances, plastics, steels, construction materials, vegetables, etc from Bangladesh. Minister of the High Commission F. M. Borhan Uddin made a PowerPoint presentation in more detail. It was revealed that a delegation of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) expected to visit Sri Lanka in the first week of August 2015 with a view to brief the potential investors on the prospects in the export processing zones in Bangladesh.
Apart from Deputy Presidents of NCCSL, Sujeeve Samaraweera and Asela de Livera, and Secretary General of NCCSL, Bandula Dissanayake, a good number of interested businessmen attended the Session and participated in the question-answer segment. The High Commissioner assured of all cooperation to the businessmen in facilitating and expanding trade and investment between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
