Annual average inflation, which declined since June 2013, declined to 1.7 percent in June, from 1.9 percent in previous month. However, CCPI increased May to June 2015.
The absolute CCPI computed by the Department of Census and Statistics however, increased by 1.03 per cent from 179.8 in May to 181.6 in June 2015. The increase was due to the increase of food items by 0.86% and increase of non-food items by 0.18% respectively.
Significant price increases have been reported for Vegetables, Fresh Fish , Green Chillies , Red Onions, Limes, Dhal and Potatoes.
Core inflation, which reflects the underlying inflation in the economy, increased to 2.8 per cent in June 2015, from 2.6 per cent in May 2015 on an year-on-year basis. Annual average core inflation declined marginally from 2.9 per cent in May 2015 to 2.8 per cent in June 2015.
