Secretary to the Ministry of Education Upali Marasinghe and Chairman of the Sunithya Energy Authority Prasad Galhena signed this agreement which will apprise society of energy conservation.
It is planned to get all school children from Grade Six onwards involved in this programme. It is intended to educate the children on the energy crisis and thereby encourage them to prevent wastage.
Although the programme got underway this year, it is planned to implement it on a broad basis within schools from next year. Plans have been drawn up for the selection of the Energy Star and implement Energy Day programmes.
