The Sri Pada pilgrimage season will end today. The pilgrimage season commenced on the Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day. The pilgrimage season which continued since then for six months will end after the sacred relics and objects are brought to Nallathanni.
The Relics casket and the statue of God Saman as well as the sacred objects are placed at the Sri Pada Maluwa during the pilgrimage season. These will be carried in a special perahera today to the Sri Pada Raja Maha Vihare at Galpottawala in Pelmadulla.
All these proceedings will take place under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of the Sri Pada Vihare the Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera. Full state patronage is offered for the perahera activities.
