No point in continuing if 19A is defeated - Ajith P.Perera Featured

    April 22, 2015

"The debate on the 19th Amendment was postponed due to objections made by a group of saboteurs led by several Opposition members. They created a situation where it was no longer possible to hold Parliamentary sessions. These saboteurs are scared of the 19th Amendment, but, it should be passed for the benefit of the citizens of the country”, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ajith P. Perera said while addressing a press conference held at the Government Information Department today (22).

He pointed out that, if the amendments can not be passed, Parliament will have to be dissolved. He went on to say that if the 19th Amendment is defeated there is no point in continuing.

The Deputy Minister also said that "We don't have a mandate to go further if we fail to achieve our main objective, President should be able to get numbers from SLFP".
