    Increased accidents on 13th and 14th

    The number of patients that sought treatment at the Colombo National Hospital due to sudden accidents on April 13 and April 14 exceeded last year’s figures.

    Chief Nurse of the Colombo National Hospital Pushpaa Ramyani Soysa said that this is an increase of 15 percent in comparison to the two New Year holidays last year.

     

    The Chief Nurse of the Colombo National Hospital said that the number of patients who sought treatment on the 13th and 14th due to sudden accidents was 419.

     

    She said it is an increase of 15 percent when compared with the figures of the corresponding period last year. The number of warded patients was 172. This was an increase of eight percent. The injuries had resulted in road traffic accidents, violence and fireworks mishaps.

     

    Chief Nurse Pushpaa Ramyani Soysa said that only three persons were treated at the Colombo National Hospital due to the fireworks mishaps while 112 persons were due to road traffic accidents during these two days.
