FM maintains his stance on Rs.10,000 Mn. allocation to former President Featured

    February 12, 2015

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said yesterday (11) that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has spent public funds lavishly and he had ample evidence to prove how he had done so. It is amusing if somebody says that former President has not been allocated a budget of a staggering Rs. 10,000 million.

Karunanayake questioned as to why such a colossal amount of money has been required by the former President.

Addressing a press conference at the Ministry premises yesterday, following a meeting with UAE envoy in Colombo, the Finance Minister further said that President Maithripala Sirisena directed officials to prune his budget upto Rs. 2,500 million soon after he assumed duties as the President.
