    Vehicles handled at Magampura Harbour exceeds 200,000

    The number of vehicles handled at the Magampura Mahinda Rajapaksa International Harbour exceeds 200,000. 41 vessels had arrived at the Magampura Mahinda Rajapaksa International Harbour last month alone. This includes 24 vehicles which had carried vehicles, the Magampura International Harbour sources revealed.

    According to the sources, 14,500 vehicles had been brought during the last month alone for transshipment, while the number of vehicles brought for use in Sri Lanka is 4,811. It was revealed that 7,526 metric tons of fuel had been released for the 17 vehicles which arrived at the harbor last month for bunkering.


    The transshipment of vehicles took place to Middle Eastern countries as well as South Africa. The total number of vehicles so far transshipped from the Hambantotal Harbour was in the region 160,457. The number of vehicles so far imported for use in Sri Lanka exceeded 59,000. The second phase of construction of the Magampura Harbour has now reached the final stage, sources added.
