The world has been celebrating Poppy Day annually since 1921, to commemorate the War Heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the Motherland. The theme for Poppy Day is 'Wear a Poppy - Show Your Concern'.

The commemoration of Poppy Day - 2014, will be held on November 9 at the Vihara Mahadevi Park under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Sri Lanka Ex- Servicemen's Association (SLESA) sources said.
