    Water to be released from Kala Wewa for Maha season

    The Department of Irrigation has taken steps to release water to 63 thousand acres of paddy for the Maha season. The water capacity of Kala Wewa has increased due to the torrential rains recently.

    The Department said that all sluice gates of the left bank of the old Yodha Ela and South Bank channels were opened.

     

    The water capacity of the Kala Wewa is 100 thousand acre feet. At present it is filled to a capacity of 82 thousand acre feet. (ST/KH)
