    South Korea assures assistance to Sri Lanka in several fields

    A high level delegation from South Korea assured President Maithripala Sirisena that they would provide assistance to Sri Lanka in several fields including finance, internal security, small and medium industries and employment, the President's Media said.

    They made this assurance when they called on the President at the Presidential Secretariat today (September 21).

     

    The President thanked them for their interest in Sri Lanka and for the offer to provide assistance for the development of Sri Lanka.

     

    The delegation included Vice Chairman of Korea Federation of Small and Medium Industries (KBIZ), Joo dae-chull, Chairman of Fine Technics, Scott Hong, Director of Global Supersector Leader, Ilhwan Park and Chaiorman of Kuntoung Corporation, Hyung Soo Lee.

     

    They said that Korean Exim Bank could provide finance for selected joint projects in Sri Lanka. They discussed the possibility of installation of internal security system, LED street lights at low cost and several development projects. They also agreed to provide employment to 5000 Sri Lankan youths in Korea.

     

    President Sirisena advised the two ministers who attended the discussion, Ministers Felix Perera and Faizer Mustafa to conduct further discussions with the Korean delegation regarding the proposed projects.
