    April 22, 2015

Islamabad:  Chinese president Xi Jinping said yesterday (21) Pakistan has always been next to his country in the hardest times and described it as an "iron brother".

Xi recalled that when China was isolated from the world, Pakistan opened its airspace for China when it needed it the most, and was the first country to initiate diplomatic relations with China.

On the second and last day of his visit to the country, Xi became the first Chinese president and one of the few worldwide to address a joint session of the parliament, which he considered to be a great honor.

On Monday, the parties signed 51 agreements, more than half related to the construction of the China-Pakistan economic corridor, worth about 45 billion dollars that will boost bilateral trade and turn the nation into an important commercial route in the region.

Chinese President termed his visit `historical and acknowledged that Pakistan;s economy has the capability of transforming into an Asian Tiger, as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif plans.

He hailed Pakistan's role as a frontline state against terrorism and vowed that Pakistan and China would fight the challenges of terrorism together.
