    Pakistan, US to continue counter-terrorism cooperation

    Pakistan and the United States have agreed to continue to work together for peace and security in the region.

    The agreement came during a telephonic conversation between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif last night.


    The White House said in a statement that the two leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues with particular reference to President Obama's recent visit to India.


    They expressed the resolve to further strengthen bilateral relations and advance the shared interest of a stable, secure and prosperous Pakistan and South Asia.


    President Obama said Washington supports all efforts by Pakistan and India to improve their bilateral relations.


    He also welcomed the improved relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and appreciated Islamabad's efforts to combat terrorism.


    Both the leaders expressed the intent to meet at a mutually convent time.
