    Kashmir solution vital for regional peace, Aizaz

    Foreign Secretary reaffirms Pakistan's unflinching political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.

    Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has emphasized that resolution of Kashmir dispute is vital to ensure peace, security and stability in the region.

     

    He was briefing the Ambassadors of five permanent members of the UN Security Council and the European Union based in Islamabad on important developments taking place in the region.

     

    The Secretary reaffirmed Pakistan's unflinching political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.

     

    Aizaz Chaudhry paid tributes to the people of Kashmir for their unprecedented sacrifices in their struggle for right to self-determination.

     

    He said the long-standing Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

     

    He said elections in Indian occupied Kashmir cannot be a substitute of the UN monitored plebiscite.

     

    The Foreign Secretary expressed concern over Indian attempts to alter the ground situation through demographic changes in Indian held Kashmir.

     

    Aizaz Chaudhry also briefed the Ambassadors of the world powers about Pakistan's concern on those aspects of President Obama's recent visit to India which had regional and global implications including strategic imbalance in South Asia.
