    Pakistan, Russia agree to enhance bilateral cooperation

    Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has urged businessmen to take advantage of huge export potential of food items to Russian Federation.

    Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said Russia has banned agricultural products from Europe a reaction to sanctions imposed on it, providing a window of opportunity to our farmers and businessmen.

     

    The Minister said during his recent visit to Russia, fruitful talks were held for mutual cooperation in trade, industry and investment.


    He said a Russian company that set up Karachi Steel Mills has offered to extend support for restructuring of the Mills and its expansion programme. He said Russia has also offered cooperation in CASA-1000 and TAPI gas pipeline projects.

     

    The Finance Minister expressed the confidence that the target of 15 billion dollar foreign exchange reserves would be achieved by 31st of this month.

     

    Regarding appointment of Chief Election Commissioner, the finance minister said as per the Supreme Court's directives, name must be submitted in the court by Friday.

     

    Regarding tax returns, he said Friday is the last day for filing tax returns, however, all those who failed to submit will be charged fine effecting 22nd November. He hoped that the targets in this regard will be achieved.(KH)
