The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) reported that even pregnant women have remained without access to hospitals due to the blocking of roads.

Judith Leveillee, UNICEF deputy representative in CAR, has recently stated that they would not allow threats to halt the work they perform to protect children.

She said that attacks without precedents against humanitarian workers in CAR have been staged.

Organizations like Doctors Without Borders (Medecins sans Frontiers) have also expressed the powerlessness they feel as they cannot aid civilians.

Clashes between ethnic groups and attacks against civilians, which have claimed hundreds of fatalities since 2013, worsen humanitarian issues in the Central African Republic.(KH)
