The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Maj Gen ® Qasim Qureshi along with the entire staff of the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka has expressed their deep sympathy and grief on the tragic loss of life and property caused by the recent landslide in Badulla District.
The Government of Pakistan is abreast with the situation and is actively considering the assistance requirements put forward by the Sri Lankan Government. In this regard, Gen Raheel Sharif, Chief of Pakistan Army Staff had a telephonic conversation with his counterpart Lt Gen Daya Ratnayke yesterday to express his sympathy and to assess the assistance required by Sri Lanka.
It is expected that relief goods will be airlifted from Pakistan to Sri Lanka shortly.(KH)
