Bermudas Restarts Services after Tropical Storms

    October 21, 2014

Services are restarted in the Bermudas, after being hit by two tropical storms that caused widespread power outages and serious damage to infrastructure, but without loss of life.

This archipelago is in full recovery after being hit by Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo, in the space of just a few days, Prensa Latina Agency Reports revealed quoting the authorities.

The storm, which produced significant flooding in coastal areas, with torrential rains last October 17 evening, knocking out power to 80 percent of the country where the recovery effort began two days later.

However, though the mobilization of the population, the administration and the security forces was effective, some services remain paralyzed.

However, ferries began operations Sunday, as well as the international airport.

A spokesman for the Office of the Commissioner of Taxation said 'taking into account the impact of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo, all tax statements due on October 15, 2014 will be processed without penalty if received on Friday, October 24, 2014 '.

Although the population was ready for the arrival of these systems were damaged commercial, public institutions and private companies.

Authorities started an assessment of the potential damage to grant aid to the most affected people of this British overseas nation.(KH)
