The pioneering expo is scheduled to bring changes among the Provinces and shall give the much needed platform for regional industries to link with national and international buyers.
Presence on the occasion were the Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishard Bathiudeen, State Minister Champika Premadasa, Secretary to the Ministry T.M.K.B. Thennakoon, State Ministry Secretary Sandya Wijayabandara, and the Industrial Development Board (IDB) Chairman Mahinda Jinasena.
Minister Bathiudeen addressing the occasion pointed out that out of the country’s exports almost 70% is industry and manufacturing products. The industries also contribute to one third of the GDP and more than one fourth of the labour force is engaged in manufacturing and industries.
“The development reform vision of the Unity Government of the President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, which aims to give one million jobs, also envisages major industrial reforms in the coming years”, he added.
The first INCOM expo will be held in Eastern Province at Sammanthurai Technical Collage from 26th to 30th August. This series of exhibitions will involve all small medium and rural Industries in Agriculture, Fishery Industry, Hand-looms, Light Engineering, and Handicrafts in all the provinces to empower them.
