10 dead in BSF aircraft crash in Delhi

    December 22, 2015

At least 10 people died after a chartered aircraft of the Border Security Force (BSF) crashed near the Delhi airport soon after taking off for Ranchi, the hindu reported.

Initial reports suggest that the Superking aircraft developed a technical snag soon after taking off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The pilot of the aircraft asked the Delhi Air Traffic Control for a priority landing and full emergency was declared and measures were put in place.

The Delhi ATC put two other aircraft that were also on the approach on the stand-by to let the Superking aircraft land first.

The aircraft was on its way back and approaching the airport’s runway 10 from the Dwarka side when it suddenly lost radio contact with the ATC.

The plane crashed next to a building near the airport’s periphery at around 9.50 a.m.

At least 15 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot.
