The main commemoration function will be held at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo today under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
Issue of a commemoration stamp and afirst day cover in this connection also will be held.
Parallel to the main ceremony, an international Conference on Strengthening Cooperation among National Libraries in South Asia will be held on August 5 and 6 at the Global Towers Hotel in Wellawatta.
The function will be attended by the High Commissioners and the Ambassadors of China, India, Pakistan and Maldives. In addition to this Directors of National Libraries of several South Asian Countries will also attend this function.
At this function the launching of the digital archives’ website of the national library will also take place.
