The event replete with national flag hoisting and lighting of the traditional oil lamp added an extra elegant to the proceedings.

Over 40 New Year traditional games were played at the festival. Meanwhile, State Minister Wijewardene flagged off the marathon and bicycle races as a symbolic gesture at the colourful event.

Speaking at the event Minister thanked all the local government members for organizing the event and wished a very happy new year to all present.
