    Sanga scores 11th Test double century

    Kumar Sangakkara scored his 11th Test double century Sunday (04) during the second Test match against New Zealand

    New Zealand, who came out first, managed to score 221 runs. Sri Lanka were 78 runs for the loss of 5 wickets when play commenced on Sunday.

     

    Dinesh Chandimal managed to score his sixth half-century . This was incidentally the first time he reached the 50-run mark since April last year. Kumar Sangakkara together with Chandimal managed to score a 130-run partnership for the sixth wicket before Chandimal was dismissed for 67.

     

    Sangakkara and Suranga Lakmal maintained a 67 run partnership for the ninth wicket as Sangakkara scored a double century in 301 balls in a knock that included 18 fours and 3 sixes. Sri Lanka were on 356 runs all out at the end of the first innings.
