The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
Out of the all participants around 450 athletes will display their talents during the three day event. Over its 16 consecutive years of display, this time turned a new page by opening the game for differently-able heroes from the security forces of Asian countries.
Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa will grace the closing ceremony participating as the Chief Guest on Friday (22 Aug).
As a result of this game, athlete Pradeep Sanjaya was able to obtain a bronze medal at the Para Olympic Games held in London and in France. Similarly, several Army Para athletes participated in Asian tournaments succeeded in securing many medals to the Army. In addition, Sri Lanka Army sportsmen are expecting to participate at the Para Olympics Games to be held in South Korea.
