    Army troops join in to celebrate 'Children's Day'

    A number of programmes were conducted by the Sri Lanka Army in view of the Children's Day during the past week. According to Army media, several events were held in Kilinochchi on Monday (01). Troops distributed bank savings deposit books with an initial deposit among children of low income families in the region.

     The event was supported by the People Bank. Troops also provided free lunch to 185 children and staff at the Kanagapuram - Mahadeva Children's Home and also performed an entertainment programme for them.

    In another event troops presented bank savings books to selected children under 5 years from low-income families at Thottaadi Community Hall in Vishwamadu. In Kandawali, troops also provided snacks and gift parcels to the children at the Rangan pre-school while the children at Vishwamadu Manthi pre-school were given a free breakfast and sweets.

    14 children at the Pannankandi - Paranthan, Malawaihal pre-school were also presented with bank savings books with deposits plus a set of stationeries on the same day (01). Lunch was provided by the troops to the children of Mankulam Children's Home.
