The Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases was established under a directive of the President to save people from the kidney diseases which has assumed the magnitude of a national catastrophe.
The Task force is on a comprehensive mission, dedicated to work for the prevention of kidney disease, provision of treatment for its victims as well as the welfare of their families. President Sirisena stated that everybody should be united without any divisions to save the people of our country from the kidney disease. He pointed out it cannot be done by the government alone. He said the politicians, artists, business community, professionals and everybody should be united for that. “It is the responsibility of everybody today”, he said.
Mr. Mano Thiththawella was appointed as Brand Ambassador (corporate Sector) for kidney disease prevention at this occasion. He received his letter of appointment from the President.
President Sirisena also presented letters contained the responsibilities and objectives of Brand Ambassadors to Mr. Muttiah Muralithran and Mr. Thilakaratne Dilshan who have been appointed as Brand Ambassadors of the Presidential Task Force on Kidney Disease Prevention.
Renowned businessmen Mr. Berty Perera offered Rs. 100,000 donation to President to be utilized for the fund for kidney disease prevention.
Mr. Darshana Ruwan Dissanayake presented the documents on medical equipments for the use of treatment of kidney patients to the President on his occasion.
Minster of Health Rajitha Senaratne, Secretary to the President P. B. Abeykoon, Secretary to the Defense Ministry Mr. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Secretary to the Health Ministry Mr. Upali Marasinghe also participated at this event.
