    Divisions in development plans dimidiate development goals - President

    President Maithripala Sirisena says when the gap between professionals and politicians is minimal, the obstructions for the country’s development will be greatly reduced.

     

    He added that the divisions in the development plans dimidiate the development goals.

     

    The President was addressing 37th Annual Sessions of Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka (IIESL) held on Sunday (July 26) at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

     

    President Sirisena pointed out that because of the skills shown by our engineers in the construction sector we can speak about our physical resources with pride. He also mentioned the standard and the quality of the constructions is essential for the development of a country.

     

    The President said he agrees with the ideas and suggestions which states that salaries, allowances and other facilities provided to the construction sector workers are not adequate. He said he would build the required environment for them to work in their field with satisfaction in the future.

     

    The engineers who demonstrated special skills were presented with certificates and awards by the President at this occasion.
