The President made these observations participating at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Archeological Department held at its head office, Wednesday (08)..
He also revealed that according to information he has received 42 top posts of the department were vacant during the last couple of years and assured to fulfill at the earliest all required human and physical resources.
President Maithripala Sirisena first garlanded the statue of the former Archeological Commissioner Senerath Paranawithana and thereafter declared open the Dutugemunu relics and artifacts exhibition.
Also, five commemorative stamps and a first day cover issued by the Department of Posts to mark the 125th Anniversary of the Archaelogical Department was presented to the President.
