    President Maithripala Srisena said all religious leaders have the biggest responsibility in establishing true peace.He said peace and reconciliation should reflect the ability of all communities to live freely in the country.

    President further reiterated that the time has come for all communities to join together in peace and brotherhood for the future of the country.

     

    The President expressed these views while attending the ceremony to unveil the Pinnacle of Muhudu Maha Seya built at Pothuvil Muhudu Maha Viharaya.

     

    President Maithripala Sirisena called over the Chief Incumbent of the temple Venerable Warakapola Indasiri and Venerable Dodampahala Chandrasiri Theras. The Chief Incumbent of the Temple requested the President to provide them with a proper land deed as Muhudu Maha Viharaya does not have a land deed as a sacred area.

     

    President Maithripala Sirisena further said that the Eastern Province where all Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities coexist in peace is an example for all other provinces in the island.

     

    The President planted a Naa sapling at the temple premises. A large group of people including Maha Sangha, EasternProvince Governor Austin Fernando, Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage, Parliamentarian Sarath Weerasekera and UNP National Organizer Daya Gamage were present on the occasion.
